- Published on Thursday, 09 May 2013 08:05
Following up on the recommendations made by the Global Commission on HIV and the Law, the Secretary of Justice and Human Rights, the National Advisory Group, UNAIDS and several civil society organizations, with support from UNDP, organized a National Dialogue on HIV and the Law on 8-9 May, 2013 in Honduras. The event provided a space for people living with and affected by HIV to present evidence on the impact of gaps in HIV legislation. The dialogue was attended by more than 90 participants, including civil society organizations and government officials to explore ways address challenges around stigma and discrimination in the health and education sectors faced by LGBT persons, sex work and police abuse, and access to treatment, among others. Participants proposed changes in the law to promote the access to essential services for all, including most at risk populations.
